This post will be probably very boring, but I did not want to miss the first day – hence I am still writing this. Although, everything I did today was pretty basic. I have mentioned some important takeaways below-:
Model View Controller.
Only about 2-3 minutes were spent discussing this but it will be covered in a later section of the course. Right now what I gathered was -:
View refers to the what the user actually gets to see on his/her screen.
Controller handles what to do when the button is pressed.
Model contains the logic and performs the calculations.
Data – Actual data
Shortcuts worth remembering -:
Cmd + D : Duplicate the label/object selected.
Cmd + = : Label/Object resized to display itself in entirety.
Placing Elements -:
X axis – Horizontal Placement
Y axis – Vertical Placement
Pixel (Picture element) a single dot in your image.
Pt (Point) is a unit of length, 1pt is equal to 1/72th of an inch.
We don’t realise the enormous power of just simply….. Starting. How many times have you had an idea and then you just let it go. You think about it but then somehow you just talk yourself out of it. I am sure literally everyone who is reading this has had these moments. Sometimes we just start overthinking and over analysing. We feel we are not good enough or thousands of other petty reasons like these. I say petty because I know for a fact that 99% of those “reasons” are just made up in our head (I am guilty of this too). Unfortunately, most of us have been conditioned to doubt ourselves and unless we make a voluntary effort to change this mindset, we will just keep on overthinking about our ideas. (more on this later). I’ll try to keep this one really short and sweet.
The only way to convert that idea/thought into a reality is to just simply START. It’s not about being perfect. It’s not about being right. It’s all about starting. Just start! You will learn on the way. Even if you fail miserably, you’ll be better equipped for your next task. I realise that for some of us, not starting is mainly due to the fear of failure. But we have to understand that failing is beautiful. It is the very process of failing that guides us towards the light. I’ll end this one by sharing a quote I had read earlier.
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.”
I am not much of a believer when it comes to the concept of life after death.. But I am convinced that there is heaven and hell right here on earth. We all have experienced it, I am sure you have too. What is heaven on earth? Heaven on earth is when you are living at your full capacity.. When you are not being controlled by your circumstances or fears. When you are under full control of your life. When you are committed to being the strongest version of yourself everyday. That is heaven on earth. What is hell on earth? Hell on earth is not doing what you really want to do. Hell on earth is always trying to please other people and society. Hell on earth is waiting for things to happen, and just living life as it is. You get the idea!
“The Chains of Habit Are Too Light To Be Felt Until They Are Too Heavy To Be Broken”
Don’t let your habits dictate terms to you. Take charge. Start changing whatever you don’t like about your life and you will start creating heaven on earth for yourself and for those around you.
Every day you wake up. You can choose where to live, heaven or hell. If you are doing what you really want to do, striving to be better than the person you were yesterday, then you are a step closer to your heaven on earth.
We take several decisions everyday, yet somehow we feel that only some of them are important. Let me break it down for you – every decision you take is VERY important, no matter how irrelevant or small it might feel. Just ask yourself a simple question before taking every decision. WHY? – That is it. Just ask yourself WHY? Why am I going to watch this movie? Why am I wasting time surfing Facebook? Why am I watching this TV series? Why am I going out for drinks with my friends instead of hitting the gym?
Do all these tasks help you in achieving your goals/dreams? Is the answer to the WHY strong enough? If yes, then go ahead and do it. But if the answer is NO, I would suggest that you indulge in things that will help you in realising your dreams. Ofcourse, I am not asking you to be a robot who works all day. I am just asking you to Find out the Why! Try to get the most out of every situation. If you are going out for a movie, make sure you have earned it. Make sure that you deserve it.
No matter whatever you do throughout the day, if you ask yourself WHY before doing it – I can bet that you will abort many of the things you were about to do. And that my friend is time saved, which can be utilised in doing something that will take you closer to your goals.
The WHY should be strong. Very strong. Because this WHY will always motivate you and will help you in staying focused when the chips are down.
A new year. Time to set fresh goals! Another chance to get it right. I have always loved the whole concept of a “new year”, not because of the holiday season and parties that come along with it. But because the new year pushes everyone into an introspection mode. It’s a very different feeling, waking up on the 1st of January, realizing that a whole year has passed. Think about it. Do you think your life has changed for good in the past one year? If you are not happy with where you are right now, then this is a good time to change everything.
I don’t want you to create a new year resolution. F*ck that. I want you to create new rituals. Things that you will start doing from now. Day after day, obedience after obedience, day after day. If you want a new car – WORK FOR IT. If you want to earn more money – DO IT. If you want to lose weight and look good – GO FOR IT. Don’t stop. Don’t look back. You will face roadblocks, you will face challenges, you will have bad days and you will feel like giving up. But remember if you give up and go back to your old self, you will revert back to the same person you were on 31st December 2015. The only time you should ever look back is to see how far you’ve come. Do what you can, with what you have. If you are reading this, then you are fortunate enough to have access to the Internet and other facilities. You have everything that is required to change your life. The question is, what are you going to do about it?
Most importantly, be thankful for what you have currently. Many times we tend to ignore how lucky we are. Happy New Year. It’s game time. #Hustle2016
The first smart watch that I ever used was the Pebble, after that I purchased the LG G Watch and now I was really excited to try out the Apple Watch.! It took forever for my watch to ship as I had ordered probably the most popular model and color! The 42 mm space grey sports model. So now that I have played with this watch for quite a while, these are the things that I love about my Apple Watch!
1. The design / Look and Feel
At first when Apple actually announced the Apple watch I was not really happy to see a square display, I was more drawn towards the round display of the Moto 360! But you seriously have to see this thing in person to really feel the quality of this product. The built quality is awesome and it feels really premium. Not to mention its beautiful screen. The pixels really pop out and although the screen itself is quite tiny, everything is easily readable and it contributes to a more enjoyable experience.
The main function that any watch needs to perform is to tell the time, and the Apple watch nails this one. The best part about the watch is the way it responds to my movement and wakes up the display. There have been certain occasions where the watch just doesn’t respond to my movement but again, this is a first generation product and considering that, this is a pretty great start.
3. Digital Crown
This is something which apple felt really proud at the keynote! and now I can understand why.. this is an amazing way to interact with your watch.. you can easily scroll through text messages.. zoom into photos.. and double tap it to open the previous app you were on.. .. I have found myself tapping on the screen less and using the crown more.. and that is good.. because now my giant thumb and fingers don’t really hide the screen that much.
4. Battery Life
The battery life on this thing is amazing! Last night my watch had around 30% battery left, which is quite good considering that it has a full colored display. Don’t get me wrong. the battery life is no where near what the pebble smartwatch offers but both the companies have different strategies. Apple has always sacrificed battery life for a slimmer and lighter design and here they are sacrificing battery life for a beautiful colored display!
5. Force Touch
Force touch is a completely new way to interact with your watch. You can now press the screen harder to change your watch face or to browse through other options available in various apps, right now this might not seem a big deal to many of you but think about this for a second! This is a completely new way to interact with your device and this will change a lot of things in the tech world as more and more developers and manufacturers pick up this new method.
Now. A couple of things that I don’t like about the Apple Watch
1. The Price
The watch that I am reviewing right now will cost your around 400$ . Now this raises a very valid question. Is the watch really worth it? Honestly. I don’t think so! The apple watch definitely stands out and its definitely better than most of the smartwatches out there but honestly I don’t feel that the 400$ price tag is justified!
Almost all the apps available to download for the apple watch are useless. There is nothing more to say about this. Apps like Instagram pull data from your phone and then display it on your watch and hence they take quite a lot of time to load. Of course the loading time for many apps will drastically improve once watchOS 2 comes out but for now it feels as if these apps simply have no purpose at all!
Almost all the things that I do on my Apple Watch, can easily be done on my iPhone. I personally feel that smartwatches in general have a long way to go……
I am sure you have heard tales of people earning thousands of dollars through Internet Marketing. So are those true? YES, they are!
My internet marketing journey started around 4 years ago when I saw one of my online buddies earning around 5000–10000 dollars per month through Internet Marketing. I was shocked. Not by the amount he was earning, but by the method he was using. I am no Internet Marketing Guru, neither do I want to become one. I am still learning, each and every day but in my 4 years of experience, I have learned a few things that I would like to share today.
So here are 3 reasons why most people fail at Internet Marketing.
1. Lack of Patience
Patience is the most important quality one needs to have in order to be a successful Internet Marketer. I have seen so many people fail at Internet Marketing just because they are not patient enough and they just don’t stick to one particular method. They might try out something for 10–15 days and then eventually give up. Why? Because they expect those huge numbers to roll in even before understanding what they are doing clearly. Let me burst that bubble for you. You won’t see those huge numbers unless you have patience and you keep on trying. Even if you are getting a really small amount of return, do not stop. Tweak your method, read more about how you can improve your content and eventually you will start seeing the results!
“If it was easy, everybody would do it.”
2. Do not simply copy what others are doing. Innovate!
Now this is something that even I am guilty of. I used to blindly copy what others did and expect results. You have to innovate. Sit down, take a paper and jot down what you can provide which people would like to share/purchase. You will be surprised by the amount of amazing ideas hidden in your brain!
3. Investing your time and money
You won’t start seeing that traffic roll in automatically. You have to work for it. Get ready to invest a small portion of your time in reading and implementing various methods. You have to spend your time in order to acquire various skills.I believe luck does play a roll in Internet Marketing but you cannot expect everything to magically workout. Moreover, I have seen people hesitate in investing their money into their Internet Marketing ventures. I am not talking about those crappy e-books about “How to earn 10k$ per day”. Invest wisely and only where required.
“I’m a greater believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it” ― Thomas Jefferson
After reading and watching quite a few self help articles and motivational videos, I have gathered a list of 10 things which I feel can change your life dramatically.
Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything. — George Bernard Shaw
The only thing that can bring a positive change to your life is “change” itself. Let me explain. Whatever the problem may be, you are the only one who can improve your life. Leave the situation, change the situation or accept it. So here is a list of 10 things which can help you change your life.
Your life changes the moment you make a new, congruent, and committed decision. — Anthony Robbins
1. Avoid negative thinking and negative people
Negative thinking is the worst thing we all do to ourselves. “Oh, I can’t pass that exam” .”No, I can’t lose weight”.Once we entertain these kind of thoughts, we condition our mind and try to prepare it for failure. That is not a good sign. This just shows that we are already thinking about the defeat rather than concentrating on how to achieve the goal. Similarly, avoid negative people. There are going to be people who will try and tell you that you can’t do that, or you can’t achieve that. Simply ignore them. So, the first thing you need to do is to condition your brain and change your thought process. Get those negative thoughts out and let those positive thoughts in.
2. Stop watching those crap TV shows, news channels etc
Sure, a good TV series helps you relax and take your mind off work. But over the years I have seen many people simply wasting time while watching crappy shows and even news channels. I have seen people stuck in that cycle where they “binge watch” a series. As I said, it is a good idea to watch a show to relax and just take your mind off work but the problem arises when you “waste” time while watching hours and hours of television daily. The type of content you watch also matters a lot. Start watching TED talks, inspirational videos, motivational videos etc. This will have a major change in the way you think.
3. Exercise for 30 minutes everyday
You won’t believe the amount of effect exercise has on your life. Just go for a jog/brisk walk. Join a gym if you can. Basically, just go out and exercise everyday.
4. Eat healthy
Eating healthy is also something which will have a lot of effect on your life overall. The healthier you eat, the healthier you will become and you will start feeling much better in return. Just start changing your diet gradually. I am not asking you to completely stop eating your favourite McDonald’s burger, just watch what you eat and you will be surprised by the effect it has on your weight, health etc.
5. Try to play a sport atleast once a week
Choose your favourite sport and start playing it! I love badminton, and I try to play whenever I can. It’s a refreshing change for me. You just enter another world for a while. Call up a friend and go out and play!
6. Read something everyday
READ! Just read something good everyday. I am not talking about that internet crap. Read a quality article, book etc. Even 15 minutes of quality reading will help you in your day.
7. Start paying your own bills
Okay, so this one is for those of you who are still not able to make it on your own. It’s high time now. Start paying your own bills, create a strategy, find out what skills you posses and how can you convert those skills into some dollars and take action immediately. This is something which will really fire you up. Find what you love and let it kill you.
8. Write | Make to-do lists | Make notes
This is something which has helped me a lot over the years. I started writing down stuff about 2 years ago and it has had a positive effect on my life. Write anything you want. Create to-do lists, write down stuff that is bothering you. Write down your problems and also the possible solutions. Every now and then, take a sheet of paper and write down your short-term and long-term goals too. It will help you visualise your goal and force you to take action.
9. Learn to say no without explaining yourself
Yes, learn to say no. You will always know what you need to do exactly, it’s just about what you choose. Enjoy yourself, go out whenever you feel like, drink, dance and travel. But learn when to say no and how to say no. I bet many times you’ve said “Yes” when you actually wanted to say “No”. So learn to listen to your inner self, and learn to say no without explaining yourself.
10. Last, but the most important one. Start NOW
I know it’s easier said than done, but you gotta start now! No you do not have to wait for the new year. No you don’t have to wait for the next Monday or the next month, you have to “change” NOW!
Hope you liked the article. I am myself trying to get all these 10 things right and this is just my personal opinion and I feel that if you follow these 10 things you will definitely see a change in your life!
2014 was the year where wearable tech really kicked off! It all started with the launch of Pebble Steel but soon Android Wear took over. Today, I have got the LG G watch with me and here are the Top 5 android wear/LG G watch features.
1. Voice Control and Google Cards
Voice controls are pretty much the core function of Android Wear. You can call up someone from your contacts using the voice control, send text messages, play music, set reminders, take notes and what not. All the notifcations are shown in the form of a google card. Yes, you can interact with those cards or notifications but you can only perform some basic functions as of now.
2. Tracking my Steps – Google Fit
Now this is something that I really liked about Android Wear and my LG G watch. It tracks my steps and gives me the option to check how many steps I have walked in the past 7 days. Pretty neat! I know it might not be a big deal for some of you out there but I have really started monitoring my steps all thanks to Android Wear.
I LOVE the watch faces on my LG G Watch. I know this isn’t a big “feature” as such but it really just enhances the whole experience. Instead of asking about the functions of the LG G watch, a lot of my friends just wanted to scroll through the watch faces and basically everyone liked how the smart watch looks with those watch faces on.
4.Applications for Android Wear
This is still a new area for developers but there are already some pretty kick ass apps for Android Wear. One of my favourite one is called “Find my Phone” and it basically helps you find your phone if you have misplaced it somewhere near you. Just launch the app on your watch and it will set off an alarm on your phone, even when it is in silent mode. If you have forgotten your phone somewhere or it’s gone out of range your watch will vibrate and give you a nice little notification asking if you have left your phone somewhere. It’s pretty useful sometimes. There are a bunch of other apps too but honestly I have never used any one of them. Even when I need to navigate somewhere it’s pointless to just launch the app on my watch and then pull out my smartphone. It just feels like an extra step. The other app that I have used sometimes is the Calculator App. Again I could just pull out my smartphone and calculate and that would be easier too considering the small size of the LG G watch but sometimes for calculating something really quickly I have used the calculator app on my watch.
5. Decline in my smartphone usage.
I know this is not exactly a feature of Android Wear but this is something which comes with it and is including in the whole package. Ever since I started using the LG G watch I have noticed that the time spent on my smartphone has decreased. Many times when I have to ignore certain texts or calls, it’s easier for me to just check them on my watch and leave my phone alone. That way I keep myself informed and I don’t end up pulling out my smartphone for every little thing.
So are android wear watches worth it? Well it really depends on you. While it feels like the future, In my opinion, Android Wear is still in its early stage and although it has some pretty neat features here and there, it really doesn’t feel something which I can’t live without or something which I would miss If left it at home. I definitely feel that eventually wearable tech will become a genuine category like the smartphones did, but right now it has a long way to go.
Are you using any smart watch right now? What do you feel about Android Wear? Don’t forget to leave your comment down below!
