I came across “The Strangest Secret” by Earl Nightingale about 4-5 years ago. Since then, I’ve kept it in my playlist & everytime it plays on shuffle – it acts as a great reminder.

“Men simply don’t think”

This is one out of many statements that will catch your attention. And all of them are justified pretty well.

Why is it that only a small percentage of people succeed & seem to have it all together? Before we try to dissect the facts. Let’s define success. Nightingale shares the best definition of success I’ve heard so far.

“Success is the progressive realization of a worthy ideal”

Simply put. If you are going after a predetermined goal & working towards it on a regular basis. You are a success.

If you are deliberately doing a predetermined job because YOU wanted to do it – You are a success.

“The opposite of courage in our society is not cowardice, it is conformity.”

People with goals succeed because they know where they are going. It’s that simple.

So what is the strangest secret?

We become what we think about

I know, it sounds cliche. But if you really need to dig deep into this statement to truly understand what it means. You reap what you sow. Our mind is incredible. The mind doesn’t care what you plant in it, success or failure. Whatever you plant will manifest. You can either feed your mind with a concrete goal or with confusion, anxiety, fear etc. Depending upon what you feed your mind, it will eventually return the result.

There is so much more that Earl Nightingale covers in this amazing book originally published in 1957. I’ve attached the full audiobook below!
