So I turn 28 today, phew. Last few years have flown by far too quickly. I’ve always liked to spend my birthday alone. Pampering myself, doing whatever the fuck I want, thinking about my life.

A lot of friends/family around me sometimes question it and ask me why I don’t go out or party or meet my friends or whatever. So I thought it’s best to write about this. So if you’re someone who feels the same way, hi5.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve never understood the concept really. And specially the fact that people treat you differently, just for that one day, ahem.

I see this day as a good excuse to take some time off & just be with myself. Kinda balance life’s books. There are 364 days when I can do everything else.

I’ve previously celebrated my birthday the usual way, going out with friends and all that jazz. But I realised quickly that I don’t enjoy it as much. At the end of the day I feel slightly drained & crave that personal space again. So I’ve decided to listen to my body and mind more on this one, until I feel otherwise.

This year, I’ve booked myself a spa session & a staycation. There’s a lot on my mind that I need to unpack, and I think this is the perfect time to do that. Also, I haven’t picked my camera in a long long time – perfect excuse for me to unpack it again.

I’ve been meaning to start a second business & I am almost there. But lately, there just wasn’t enough space for me to think about it solely. And this seems like a perfect time to reset & go hard when I am back.

I am grateful for everyone around me who still made it special. Even though they know how annoying I can be (:

Gives me more fuel to move forward.

Again, this post is not to shit on people who like “celebrating” it. Just for people who might feel the same way and would relate. It’s all about how you want it!

If you want to spend your birthday alone, do it. If you want to spend it with 2 people, do it. If you want to celebrate it with a dozen more, do it. Just do what really makes you feel content & happy. That’s it. You do you!

PS : This year, We also lost a music legend & one of my favorite artists – Sidhu Moosewala. Coincidentally he was born on 11th June as well. He was a fucking gem & an inspiration to many. RIP Legend.
